Meet the practioners

My aim is to combine a warm, therapeutic presence with a down-to-earth sensibility that helps you become an active participant in your own well-being, while feeling deeply cared for.
As part of your healthcare, our work together can ease chronic tension, pain, and distress that often accompany life and illnesses. Beyond the various clinical techniques employed with my hands, my hope is that our work together allows you to feel safe and facilitates deep relaxation.

I enjoy learning and am perpetually participating in additional training to continue my education. Included in my journey are classes about the alignment of the pelvis and the use of essential oils, specialty techniques like CranioSacral Therapy and Zero Balancing, and manual therapy techniques. In addition, I’ve spent time learning about Trauma-Informed Care and Social Justice in Health Care and have completed a specialty program in Oncology Massage Therapy.

My entire career has been in the wellness field, starting with personal training and recognizing psychological benefits of movement, to working with and teaching Mind-Body Skills, all with the aim of influencing the well-being of the entire human.

Before working in direct patient care, I developed and coordinated wellness programs for individuals and organizations. This work included programs for teachers and administrators at both public and private schools, for individuals experiencing intimate partner violence, and for people living with diabetes or other chronic illnesses.

As a graduate of the first Mind-Body Skills Facilitator Training Program at the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, where I also worked for 3 years, I teach Mind-Body skills to individuals and groups, including meditation and guided imagery, breathing techniques, self-hypnosis, and biofeedback.

I enjoy working in a variety of settings including Chair Massage at JHU School of Medicine and Keswick, and volunteering in the community in a variety of capacities.

I am a passionate student of the mind/body connection and take an integrative approach to wellness.  I believe we are more than just physical beings, our health is influenced by the inter-connectedness of physical, mental, energetic, emotional, and spiritual well-being.  This means stress in any one system will impact the health of the others.  I have learned that to be present in the moment, with gratitude for who we are, takes a lifetime of practice and that Hands-on Healing is a powerful adjunct to traditional Western medicine in learning to live a harmonious life. My goal is to listen carefully, respect the inner wisdom of the body, and support wellness through appropriate application of the tools with which I am familiar.

In my previous career as an early childhood and special education professional, I focused on learning and the mind. The children and families I saw came from difficult circumstances, with limited resources and many challenges. Working with these children and their families, I acquired a great deal of respect for individual differences and I gradually came to understand that learning, without listening to the body, was incomplete. At the same time, I began yoga classes to manage chronic knee pain. Through the mind/body practices, I discovered a sense of peace and joy that had been missing from my daily life, in addition to finding relief for my physical pain. I was determined to learn how to bring these seemingly simple practices to relieve the suffering of others.

I have developed my own approach to bodywork, rooted in professional trainings, clinical work, continuing education, and thousands of hours of self-structured study. All of these approaches inform what I offer to my clients. I use a multi-systems approach, where I attend to the physical, energetic, emotional, cognitive and spiritual needs of my clients through deep listening and supporting their needs. It is also an educational approach, both supporting the body in learning ways to release pain and suffering and, at the same time, empowering clients to regain their sense of well-being. As a result, treatments for each person are individualized and responsive to specific needs in the moment.

Stephanie Stolzenberg

Stefanie Stolzenberg, She/Her, a Licensed Massage Therapist, graduated from NY College for Health Professionals with an associates degree in Massage Therapy in 1999. She immediately began working in a variety of massage locations including Gyms, salons, spas, chiropractic office, private practice and even a dentist's office.

Stefanie got her bachelor degree in Restaurant management and was working 50-60 hours a week, but when she was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and her mom with Fibromyalgia, Stefanie knew she needed a change. The day after making this decision, she received a flier about an open house at the local massage school. Having never even received a massage, she definitely never thought of being a massage therapist, but by the end of the first week of the first semester, Stefanie knew she found her new path.

In the last 20 years, Stefanie has continued this journey and has taken many hours of Continuing Ed courses to improve her massage techniques, including sports massage, hot stone, pregnancy and infant massage. This gave her the experience to pull elements from a wide variety of modalities to find the best solution for your wellbeing. There are a number of different philosophies regarding massage and healing the body, and Stefanie believes the body will heal best when nurtured and cared for. Massage doesn’t have to hurt to be effective. She hopes each person thinks of the massage room as a sanctuary, a safe and comforting space to start your healing.

In the past 16 years, Stefanie and her family have moved quite a few times including to Long Island, New Jersey, Kansas and Altoona, Pa, this time they bought a house. They are enjoying living in the Baltimore area where their child is finishing High school and her husband is the new Cantor at Beth Israel Congregation in Owings Mills. When not working, Stefanie and family are busy making new friends and checking out all there is to do in and around Baltimore.
